they don't move me either, I am glad they exhist, they opened a door to so many brands like my brand, but I don't ever crave to smell one, They are like a designer beef burger, all-American salt, sugar, fat rolled into one.
Simply dropping my heart on this post wouldn’t do justice to what I just read, but then no words I could possibly muster would either. Just accept my gratitude.
Excellent piece. I sampled three times over ten years or so and never managed to fall for one of their scents. The closest I came was a 15ml of The Noir, and I never reached for it. I knew I was the target market, audience but I didn't get it. The shop is iconic enough that my husband even remembers me once entering one--and leaving empty handed. I knew they were aquired by Estée Lauder, so I imagined that might play some part. But reading this was so illuminating! I just felt light bulb after light bulb going off. I look forward to the rest of the series.
I never comment on blogs, but this was an absolutely superb piece. Well done! I'd love to read more long-form articles in this style. Perhaps you could do Penhaligon's sometime, as I find them an intruiging case study for criticism (and I say that as someone who has smelt/reviewed pretty much all of their catelogue and owns quite a few).
Thank you for sharing- loved your article and agree with all the critiques. Ironically enough, le labo haunts me and I’m 5 candles deep and own 3 fragrances by them. Looking forward to your Frederic Malle review.
So many descriptive joys in one piece! Savoring each one makes me feel like a child gleefully allowed to stomp in puddles on a rainy day. Brava!
I've never been so engaged and entertained by a piece of writing as much as I was by this one. Please continue to do these in-depth brand analyses!!
Would you consider ever reviewing Thé Matcha 26?

Superb! Haven’t canceled plans to finish an article in years or ever really. The pictures you paint with words are admirable.
loved this x

I don't think I've been so rapt over a long read in years. Simply beautiful in both content and style. Thank you!
