always enjoy your work.

Bois D'Argent is one of those wonderful Diors that was/is imitated here and there.

Eau Noire is very novel indeed. And it also has a coffee note as I recall.

I don't generally go for clones, but there is a good British house Insider Parfums that makes Damber Wabsolute that is supposedly a dead ringer for the discon'd Amber Absolute.

I have a bottle of Damber and it's wonderful. But I've never smelled the OG. The same house also makes Mossy Bridges that is wonderful. Again, I've never smelled the OG Tom Ford Moss Breches to compare. Nor will I ever pay those prices on eBay.

“Goody Proctor at Pilates” is brilliant. I greatly enjoyed these reviews (although I will admit I have a soft spot for the tutti-frutti whimsy of Kurky).

Love this review, especially your take on Glossier and its “American” construction. Always nice to read things from a different perspective!

Perfect description of Eau Noire! I had the original bottle when it first launched, you brought it back to life for me. I must find a sample soon.

Love Eau Noire! I have a bottle of the original release and the newer reformulation and they are fantastic! The hot/ cold dirty/ clean contrast between the herbal lavender, liquorice and immortelle is so memorable. There are very few fragrances that managed to do something truly innovative with the “fougere” structure and this is one of them. From Tom Ford I really miss their discontinued Vert de Fleur and Vert de Bois!

Loved this! I also hated Kurky. There was so much potential there for an almond fragrance but it smells like cheap Jergens.

"It is so good. It’s hard to smell Eau Noire compared to Bois Talisman and remember that this is the same perfumer, the same brand, and that the only difference between them is time." Now why did this give me goosebumps?? Great article, thank you!
