I don’t expect to be laughing out loud at perfume reviews, but here we are. I’m slightly the opposite of you, in that I hate anything banana-flavoured, but I can eat an actual banana as long as it is still slightly under-ripe. Any suggestion of mushiness and I’m out. And even then I struggle with those string things. I’ve not smelled Nanatopia, and I hate the banana trend - Banana Rush was an immediate no thanks, and I just gave away Banana Delice which I was given at an event.

I was reminded that I have a sample of Black Crème, a Bisch effort for B2SO, so I got it out to sniff. Yes, it’s as bad as I remember it. It’s like he took the basics of Ganymede and ladled on the strongest, most pungent gourmand notes possible, plus a melted wax note that just turns my stomach. It’s also one of the strongest scents ever - I’m going to have to throw away the tester as soon as I’ve finished this comment. I also need to smell something austere and restrained to cleanse my nasal passages, possibly Cardinal by Heeley.

My dislike for the brand is only solidified by the founder appearing all over social media claiming the utmost authenticity and craft, and demonstrating his very thin skin in the process.

Good to have you back! (I can almost hear you cry, “It was only one week”. Yes, but we noticed 😂)

Kafka reading perfume names on onlyfans was the mental image I had no idea I needed in my weekend. Thanks for that. I sniffed through the B2SO line in Prague and had the same reaction. People pay good money for the stuff? The only one that made me think “eh I would maybe wear that if nothing else were available” was dirty rice. Unlike you, I love the smell of banana (both real and laffy taffy), so I was excited about the surge of banana perfumes. Sadly, I’ve been disappointed so far, though admittedly I haven’t tried many. Banana milk is one of my favorite comfort scents and tastes, and I’m really hoping someone comes along and manages to do it in a way that doesn’t smell pre-teen. We’ll see. Thanks for your always beautiful and funny writing.
